Electric Picnic: Sunday 04th September

Sunday 04th September

Dublin Gospel Choir
Mainstage, 1:00 – 2:00

Purely to look on those angelic faces and wonder, where did I go so wrong?

Honourable mention: Puking up at the door of your tent wondering if there are any buses going home today.

Cast of Cheers
Cosby Stage, 2:50 – 3:20

An Irish band that recently upped sticks and went to London (and then got all their stuff robbed). Good solid tunes.

Honourable mention: Looking at impossibly cheery people who have just arrived in for the day. Feel vaguely better about yourself for not being a blow-in.

Everything Everything

Electric Arena, 3:30 – 4:15

One of those afternoon gigs to stand with two beers in hand, desperately trying to limit spillage. You won't be required to dance, but you may well close your eyes and sway.

Honourable mention: Begin to regale blow-in friends about what happened over the weekend, realise you can’t remember one specific incident.

James Vincent McMorrow
Crawdaddy Stage, 4:15 – 5:00

Epic, downbeat, upbeat, arresting, uplifting and sometimes unsettling music. One of those gigs that match the time of the weekend perfectly.

Honourable mention: Go back to tent, turn boxers inside out. Sorted.

Joan as Policewoman
Crawdaddy Stage, 5:30 – 6:15

Good lyrics, voice and music. This is someone that could really break out soon. Check the video out below, if you like it, this gig is for you (the song, the video's just weird).

Honourable mention: Trying to force in a veggie burger into you because meat just seems too much right now.

Beirut
Mainstage, 6:45 – 7:45

A band I’m genuinely excited to see live. Blew the doors off the Tripod last year with their trumpet infused styling’s. They maybe a hipster’s wet dream but that doesn't mean they're not one of the most inventive acts around today, lead by the incredibly talented Zach Condon.

Honourable mention: Get fifteenth second-wind of the weekend. Mojito at Bacardi Arena suddenly seems a viable option.

The Drums
Electric Arena, 8:00 – 9:00

Seemingly 'New York's coolest new band' according to NME, you'll know these from that ad with the whistling, you know the one, right? But that's to belittle these guys, who are a great way to lead up to the finale with their catchy and infectious tunes.

Honourable mention: Remove frankly unbelievably amount of mint leaves from Mojito, realising that there isn’t actually any liquid in there once this is done. Go back and get another one anyway.

Underworld
Mainstage, 8.30 – 9:45

Realistically, this is another one-songer gig for a lot of people, so just make your way back for the last half hour fully replenished. I won't insult you by posting the video here. All right, I will.

Honourable mention: Ah c'mon, it's Born Slippy for feck sake.

Pulp
Mainstage, 10:30 – 12:00

A good choice by the organisers to finish the festival, even if it is a pretty cheap one. Happy, sing-a-long songs that will make you feel 17 again. For all the people that don’t want to have fun, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are playing at the same time, who are in fairness, also pretty fun.

Honourable mention: Wake up in the tent wondering what the hell just happened.

Have a good Picnic!
